Image
The reigning champions took a massive step towards a third successive Carabao Cup final appearance with a commanding 3-1 victory at Old Trafford For the first time this century,  Manchester United  conceded three first-half goals at Old Trafford. They were fortunate it wasn’t more. Out-thought and outclassed by Pep Guardiola's  Manchester City , the hosts were given a painful reminder of just how far they have fallen behind their cross-town rivals. Indeed, the Catalan coach masterminded a dominant and devastating 45 minutes of football that embarrassed United in their own backyard. United may have restored some pride by pulling a goal back after the interval through Marcus Rashford but, in truth, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer never produced an answer to the problems Pep had posed. City are looking to land the  Carabao Cup  for a third successive year. United, by contrast, appeared to be playing more in hope that expectation that they could end a three-year wait for silverwa

Pep Guardiola said he wouldn’t coach  Real Madrid  or Manchester United. The former  Barcelona  coach and current Manchester City boss made it pretty clear that even if those two jobs were the only ones available to him, he wouldn’t stoop to manage them. “If I didn’t have any offers (other than United), I would be in the Maldives,” he said. ”Maybe not the Maldives because it doesn’t have any golf courses but after training City, I won’t train United, just like I would never train Madrid. Japanese prosecutors have put out an arrest warrant for the wife of fugitive former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn. Carole Ghosn is currently in Lebanon, where her husband Carlos Ghosn fled to via Istanbul while awaiting trial on financial misconduct charges in Tokyo. She had also been banned from meeting him while he was out on bail because she was seen as someone who might help him escape. Image
The Spurs boss made an unusual complaint after his side were forced to settle for a replay at Riverside Stadium Jose Mourinho says the ball used in  Tottenham ’s  FA Cup  clash at  Middlesbrough  was “too light” and like a “beach ball”, though he insisted that was not the reason why his side failed to come away with a victory. Spurs needed a  late equaliser from Lucas Moura  to earn a replay after Ashley Fletcher put the Championship side ahead five minutes into the second half. Speaking after the game Mourinho had an unusual gripe, claiming there was a notable difference with the ball used in the FA Cup compared to the Premier League, which hampered his side’s ability to maintain possession. I think this ball is [a] beach ball. It's too light. I don't think it helps the players. But that's not an excuse," he told  BT Sport. The Portuguese was also aggrieved as he felt VAR would have disallowed Fletcher’s goal for offside, but the technology was not in place a
